Karl Marxs The Communist Manifesto Essay -- Communist Manifesto Essays

Karl Marx's The Communist Manifesto The Communist Manifesto composed by Karl Marx clarifies the historical backdrop of all social orders as the historical backdrop of class clashes, he asserts that the force and heading of all social orders is dictated by the methods of creation, as such when the method of creation no longer suits the relations of society there is an upset. He predicts that an unrest is interfering with the working class and the bourgeoisie, and calls its coming unavoidable. Marx contends that the bourgeoisies are not, at this point fit to manage, nor is their standard maintainable, as such the working class will oust them and end all class hostilities with the production of a raunchy society. Nonetheless, Marx doesn't give enough credit to patriotism, nor does he attribute to the chance of bargain between the classes. Because of this he predicts a class war which never, and may never, occur. The principal area of the Communist Manifesto portrays the historical backdrop of all general public as the historical backdrop of class clashes. Guaranteeing, that each general public is basically separated into, the oppressors and the persecuted. Besides, Marx includes, previously, social orders were composed in increasingly complex mixes and chains of importance, however present day society is being part into two ‘hostile camps’. There has consistently been a nonstop clash between the various classes; the final product of these contentions is consistently, either the absolute concealment of the abused classes, or a transformation, which prompts an upgrade of society. He censures the reason for the partition of current society into just two gatherings, on the fall of feudalism. These new class threats are between the low class, and the bourgeoisie. Marx sees the ascent of the bourgeoisie in Europe as the consequence of two or three components; right off the bat, he accepts that, the underlying components of the bourgeoisie, were created by the contracted burghers who advanced from the serfs of the medieval ages. Next, after the extraordinary colonization of the sixteenth and seventeenth hundreds of years the market extended, prompting an incredible requirement for expanded creation. This extraordinary interest couldn't be gotten the job done by the medieval societies, as such they were supplanted with assembling. Be that as it may, the business sectors and the interest continued expanding and the assembling framework could no longer keep up, as such it additionally was supplanted, by Modern Industry. The Industrial Revolution of the late eighteenth century and th... ... the progressive gatherings. These sorts of bargains occurred, and distinctive communist gatherings deserted the thoughts of radical transformation and rather sought after continuous improvement through associations and parliament. Hence the beforehand steady decline in laborers state didn't proceed, rather the laborers began getting more rights, for instance widespread male testimonial. Additionally they battled for, and won, social and monetary enhancements, for instance greater business strength, higher wages and laws, for example, the Ten Hour Act of 1847 and the Factory Act of 1833. Such reconstructions, the expansion in the intensity of Unions and the capacity of the laborers to cast a ballot prompted reasonable trade offs between the classes, as such no class war occurred. Marx’s portrayal of European culture as driven by financial aspects and isolated by class lines is right. Anyway he neglects to see the incredible impact of patriotism and he doesn't engage bargain between the classes, as a result of this he wrongly predicts the decimation of the entrepreneur framework and the bourgeoisies by the low class. Additionally, ABC has define up objectives that depend on significant issues found by the past key arranging process. These objectives are pertinent to work week openings (for example work and day underpins), entertainment and recreation exercises, private help (for example network living and cooperation) and family backing and training. Key Human Resources Planning To pass on ABC’s crucial, built up the accompanying fundamental destinations: ABC improves its ability to pull in and hold qualified direct consideration staff; All staff completely comprehends the importance of the crucial how their activity adds to accomplishing it; An expert advancement program is executed to fortify and extend the administrative and the executives limit and openings among mid-level chiefs; and An expert improvement program is actualized to reinforce and grow the limit of direct care staff to be network contacts and effectively incorporate the buyer they support into the network (Managance Consulting, 2015). This report centers around the principal objective, which is to pull in and hold qualified direct consideration staff. A decent variety program in the types of intrigue gatherings will be set up. These intrigue bunches incorporate the accompanying: Cooking Club Singing and Dancing Club Mothers Club LGBTF Club Figure 2. Decent variety program’s intrigue gatherings. Every one of these intrigue gatherings will be talked about in the last piece of the report. PESTEL Analysis To build up an all around educated, vital arrangement, the outside condition that ABC works in was broke down. With this PESTEL investigation, different outside natural factors that can affect ABC were recognized and comprehended. Thus, HR is prepared to screen any progressions that may impact ABC’s execution. Political Analysis ABC’s everyday activities and future choices can be influenced by various government strategies, for example, tax collection approach and conveying network administration strategy. In such manner, ABC, similar to every other association, must agree to specific principles and guidelines to guarantee endurance. While severe consistence with the law is required, government activities and political foundations additionally should be mulled over. Government activities may affect ABC’s execution comparative with business and joblessness rates. A portion of the political aspirations of the legislature may furnish ABC with work openings, while others may prompt conservation or steady loss. This is something that ABC should be completely arranged for. A similar idea applies to existing and pending political foundations in the types of transportation frameworks and high rises. All these political variables must be considered to keep away from negative exposure and potential fines (Business Case Studies LLP, 2015). Financial Analysis Like different associations, ABC focuses on benefit amplification. To endeavor toward this specific objective, financial components, for example, monetary development, banking, work, salary, general value level, loan fee, swelling and downturn should be dissected. Among every one of these components, monetary development, which prompts improvement, is the most significant one as it directs the volume of accounts that the general public all in all is procuring and contributing. To stay aware of the requests of an assorted economy, ABC must be as proactive as could reasonably be expected (K, 2013). Being proactive stretches out toward monitoring the other financial elements. Banking, which is interconnected with cash, can influence ABC regarding acquiring limit and buying power. Banking strategies and offices canâ influence the acquiring limit of both ABC and the individuals. Moreover, cash and its dissemination can direct the buying intensity of the clients (K, 2013). Work thickness and pay rate can likewise affect ABC’s tasks. During a financial flood, the quantity of business openings, which create salary, increments. This upswing gives individuals a more grounded buying power. Then again, as the economy goes descending, the buying intensity of the individuals likewise recoils (K, 2013). General Price level is another financial factor that can impact the development of ABC. Cost of assets, cost of creation, cost of work and cost of transportation are a portion of the segments that direct the general value level. An expansion in the expense of any of these parts will decrease the aggregate sum of cash ABC creates for items sold or benefits gave. Like general value level, the pace of intrigue can affect the improvement of ABC. Financing costs can directly affect the credits that ABC takes to drive its exhibition improvement methodologies forward (K, 2013). The Agency needs to set up techniques and possibilities to adapt to the previously mentioned financial components, alongside expansion and downturn. Socio-Cultural Analysis As the general public advances, there is a requirement for associations like ABC to adjust to remain on top of things. By monitoring the cultural and social changes, ABC will keep on working easily toward progress. Changing client inclinations is a socio-social factor that can affect ABC’s tasks, particularly its business choices. In such manner, it is of most extreme significance that ABC looks at the ways of life, perspectives, styles and needs of its clients. Comparative with the adjustments in inclinations is the adjustments in socioeconomics. Changes in socioeconomics can essentially influence ABC’s activities since populace rates increment, individuals age and genderâ roles change. As the ethics, qualities and tastes of individuals change, ABC needs to keep up particularly as far as publicizing methods (Richards and Media, 2015). Other socio-social factors that should be considered incorporate populace wellbeing, instruction, social portability, work designs, press mentality, popular assessment and social restrictions (Public Health Action Support Team, 2011). Mechanical Analysis The consistent development of innovation impacts associations as it furnishes them with chances to improve. ABC mu

The Art of Yoga - Free Essay Example

Sample details Pages: 4 Words: 1295 Downloads: 2 Date added: 2019/07/31 Category Sports Essay Level High school Tags: Yoga Essay Did you like this example? Many people have stressful lives and relaxing might mean coming home and sitting on a couch in front of the television eating pizza or falling asleep. Some people go from work to a gym, or a studio to relax. These people achieve their relaxation through the art of meditation, breathing, stretching, and helping them find inner peace. With yoga, people can fight stress and live their life in peace and harmony on a daily basis. So on Sunday April 8th, 2018, I attended a hot yoga class at 7:00 pm at the Dragonfly Studio. I walked into the small building that is connected to Buffalo Wild Wings, and a liquor store. When I walked into the yoga studio, I was greeted by a young lady working at the desk. She had this big smile and then another young lady came out and greeted me with a warm hello and a big smile. The first lady who greeted me asked me if this was my first time taking a hot yoga class. I replied with a no and asked if it was obvious as I was standing in front of her with no yoga mat or any towels. Other women have walked into the studio for the hot yoga class and had their own yoga mat and towels with them. The receptionist then handed me a form to fill out for reliability as she stated and it was an agreement to respect others in the class. I was then handed a yoga mat that they had in the back. Hot yoga is a form of yoga that is performed in a climate controlled room with heat and humidity that ma kes the entire room feel like its in a tropical environment. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "The Art of Yoga" essay for you Create order When I walked into the room, I was immediately hit with warmer temperature from the class before. I went ahead and placed the yoga mat in an area I found to work for me. The instructor who taught the class was a lovely, energetic woman name Brookyln. The class started some deep breathing poses and followed by I believe it was seven different standing poses, I might have miscounted but I know there were so many of them that were similar to one another. Before we went ahead to the floor pose, we ended the standing pose with what the instructor called was a corpse pose. We stayed in that position for about 4 minutes, maybe longer. The corpse pose was where we laid on our mat as if we were a corpse of just sleeping and with our eyes closed, we focused on our breathing and our self. The class consisted of standing poses, floor poses, breathing exercises (2 different breathing techniques), and one relaxation pose. The class was 90 minutes in an intense temperature such as 105 degrees Fahre nheit. In this yoga class, it was different because there were mirrors all around the room. The instructor throughout the class, constantly told us to focus on our self and to keep our eyes open. We were to keep our selves focused in front of the mirror to help promote our presence and to be mindful. Another thing I noticed about this class that made it different from other yoga classes was that the lights were not turned off or dimmed. The lights remained on and there wasnt any music playing during this 90 minutes session of hot yoga. After class, I immediately asked about the lights and the music, and was told that the lights remain on and the absence of music helps enhance the mindfulness of the movements done by our body and it helps our mind and body connect. Practicing yoga has been proven to improve health physically and mentally. The heat in hot yoga is been said to help relax the muscle and induce sleepiness. So technically, hot yoga helps to improve sleep. In 2014 there was a study done with a result of 94% of the participants who did Bikram (hot yoga) reported that their sleep habits had improved after a year of engaging in Bikram. In another article done by Harvard Medical School, it was stated that 20% more likely to have a positive image of their own physical and mental health, including a stronger sense of mental clarity, physical fitness, flexibility, and strength (Wei, 2016). Hot yoga has also been known to help participants lose weight. Participants have experienced induced lower body fat and an improved physique. Due to the hot temperature in hot yoga, the temperature helps to elevate the bodys heat/temperature and boost the bodys energy consumption. This will then cause the body to use more of its energy, causing a result of weight loss. Bikram (hot yoga) focuses on the mind and the body of an ind ividuals development regarding to oneself. Today, it seems that everyone is embracing yoga and what it can provide the participants in the end. Women in the United States are participating more in yoga practices than men are. Yoga has targeted the younger adults between that are still in college or adults between the ages of 18-30. Yoga also targets adults between the age of 35-54 and over 55. It is a mix of age groups but it is said that 71% of those who regularly attend yoga classes have at least one college degree (21 Staggering Yoga Demographics, Brandon, 2015). These yoga participants seem to have an annual household income to participant in yoga. Yoga is not cheap, so whether you are paying for class by class or a yearly membership, yoga is quite expensive. So yoga targets participants who make a good amount of annual household income. Yoga as of today, still is dominated by female. There isnt a lot of male participants in yoga practices. I believe that due to the advertisemen ts of yoga all over America, more females are attracted to this sort of practice. Yoga uses thin, white, and elegant women to sell their practice as well as their products. This type of advertisement creates an ideal image of a woman in the wellness-obsessed culture. It is quite difficult because Yoga teachers today still struggle to balance the practice for both males and females. Since most of the classes are filled with females mostly, females are practicing and their bodies have adapted to the movements. When a male joins the class, the amount of flexibility that a woman in the class can do is not the same as the amount of flexibility a male body can take or do safely without modifications. Our physical features and our bodies are different from one another. Certain movements are not going to be performed with the same amount of power or flexibility on a male body versus a female body. This can cause males to stay away from yoga because they may think that their bodies cannot or is not made for this type of practice. In conclusion, Bikram (hot) yoga is considered to be a safe healthy practice for participants who practice yoga to improve their health and reduce stress. It is a way an individual can create harmony within themselves. It is another way to physically and mentally connect your body and mind by engaging movements to understand oneself in a way that you have never done before. It is about building a relationship with our self and our inner beauty. Everyone wants to be happy and to find happiness in our self. Everyone should find a lifestyle that creates an environment in our mind that leads us towards a path of happiness and self-developing. Yoga is an experience of turning self-awareness to something beautiful and can create a new self. It is a process of transforming yourself externally and internally. Yoga is an art of improving the quality of your mind by improving your relationship with your mind and body.

Description of a city Shower Essay Example For Students

Description of a city Shower Essay Literary critic Claudia Thomas Kairoff (2005) explains that this interest, was for Pope, a way of exploring how to develop good human virtues that in the later years he came to believe that retreat was the only way to nurture such virtue. Kairoff argues that major critics of Popes work such as Kelsall and Landry `overlook the degree to which Popes poems frequently break with conventional assumptions of the rural superiority they apparently celebrate. Instead, argues Kairoff, Popes poetry promoted a `new, professional, non-landed perspective on the country-city ethic, whereby he focussed on the identity of the self amidst a changing world (Kairoff, 2005: p. 15). Further to this, Pope experiments in how history can inform an imaginative understanding of the past. He embarks upon an imaginative journey through the ages, recounting a series of historical events which enabled society to form and prosper. From the time of the Greeks to Rufus in the forests of Dorset, Pope identifies the changing nature of mans relationship with the countryside, often highlighting the indifference of the landscape: `Lo Rufus, tugging at the deadly dart/ Bleeds in the forest, like a wounded hart. (Lines 83-4). In contrast, Swifts portrayal of city life is not historically informed. Rather, the activities within the city are centred around the self and what happens in the immediate vicinity. For example, when the rain threatens the `devoted town. / To shops in crowds the daggled females fly,/ Pretend to cheapen Goods, but nothing buy. There is a pervading sense that people in the city try to continue in their courses of action, as if nothing is out of the ordinary; they are unwilling to recognise the ominous threat of the rain and do not wish to reveal their emotions to one another. For example, the seamstress, well-dressed and `tucked-up reveals only her `haste to escape the rain. There is a definite sense that a man alone in the country has less to fear than a man alone in the city. It is perhaps human nature itself that is the most fearsome, rather than the storm. For Swifts depiction of what he calls a `shower in the title is more aptly described as a storm or flood. This might be a more subtle reference to less known unconscious forces in mans psyche and the undertone of corruption. Rain and floods symbolised a sense of spiritual retribution from a higher order of things. Swift mentions the little detail of her umbrella having `oiled sides; another perhaps symbolic reference to the closed exterior to the personas of city-dwellers. Brendan O Hehir (1960, p. 194) recognised that Swift had drawn extensively from symbolic meanings in Classical literature, most notably the floods in Georgic I which `portended the death of Caesar. In `Windsor Forest Pope experiments with the inversion of traditional uses of space, where `the fox obscene to gaping tombs retires/ And savage howlings fill the sacred quires. (lines 71-2). Similarly, Swift too has an interest in changing the function of city spaces, where shop doorways suddenly become impromptu places to hide from the weather. In the corrupt city of London life operates very much in the present, where people are unwilling to reflect upon their morality, whereas Popes poem allows space for the poet to reflect upon the long slow process of societys evolution over time. The behaviour of the people in Popes poem is very different to the behaviour of the people in Swifts poem. Instead of being closed off to one another, Popes depictions of man involve a more honest and open communication with nature, where `He gathers health from herbs the forest yields/ And of their fragrant physic spoils the fields/ With chymic art exalts the mineral powers/ And draws the aromatic souls of flowers . Pope seeks to examine the root of existence that began with man learning to hunt and continued in the fanatical following of hunting sports in the eighteenth century. .u6469e586ca4fd83a3a9344181272fe03 , .u6469e586ca4fd83a3a9344181272fe03 .postImageUrl , .u6469e586ca4fd83a3a9344181272fe03 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u6469e586ca4fd83a3a9344181272fe03 , .u6469e586ca4fd83a3a9344181272fe03:hover , .u6469e586ca4fd83a3a9344181272fe03:visited , .u6469e586ca4fd83a3a9344181272fe03:active { border:0!important; } .u6469e586ca4fd83a3a9344181272fe03 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u6469e586ca4fd83a3a9344181272fe03 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u6469e586ca4fd83a3a9344181272fe03:active , .u6469e586ca4fd83a3a9344181272fe03:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u6469e586ca4fd83a3a9344181272fe03 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u6469e586ca4fd83a3a9344181272fe03 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u6469e586ca4fd83a3a9344181272fe03 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u6469e586ca4fd83a3a9344181272fe03 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u6469e586ca4fd83a3a9344181272fe03:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u6469e586ca4fd83a3a9344181272fe03 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u6469e586ca4fd83a3a9344181272fe03 .u6469e586ca4fd83a3a9344181272fe03-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u6469e586ca4fd83a3a9344181272fe03:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: A Continuation Of Dry September EssayWithin the poem exists a certain beauty in the death of a wild animal, such as the pheasant: the `flames in its breast linking back to the beginning of the poem to Popes reference to the `equal flame in his own breast. In conclusion, Swifts poem about city life is less experimental than Popes portrayal of country life. Swift places more emphasis on the symbolism in his work, caring less for historical significance where a `beau in a box is still like a Greek trapped in a wooden horse because mans nature is essentially corrupt and unchanging. In contrast, Popes message is a little brighter, if not only for his belief in `retreat from society being a way to readdress the balance between man and nature. As critic Kathleen Williams reminds us, Swifts greatest gift was for his ability to present objects as they really existed in life `without heightening or enlarging them, and without adding any imaginary circumstances. In this way of writing Swift excelled. (Williams. Cited in Wharton, 1995, p.209). This comment is reflected in Swifts novels which gave literature some of the earliest forms of realism. In contrast, Pope relied more upon imaginative devices to entertain his reader, where he recounts his version of historical events within the landscape in order to make vivid the changing relationship between man and nature. Both representations of city and country life did reflect pressing problems and concerns of eighteenth-century living. For example, the corruption so acutely symbolised by Swift, and Popes interest in the threat of industrialisation. Perhaps what is most apparent is the contrast between city and country living, where in Swifts London disorder is like the approaching storm only a few minutes away, and in Popes the landscape disorder used to be the natural order of things, before mankind fought to achieve some form of stability.

Safety is the Right of Every Individual Essay Example Essay Example

Safety is the Right of Every Individual Essay Example Paper Safety is the Right of Every Individual Essay Introduction Tutor: Safety is the Right of Every Individual Essay Body Paragraphs Safety is the Right of Every Individual Being safe from external aggression is a fundamental right to every living human being. This right is enshrined in some of the most powerful global legislation like the universal bill of rights. The duty to provide safety lies with the individual and other organizations like the state, local authorities and learning institutions (Louis 20-35). Everybody has a duty of ensuring their safety wherever they go, however, individual responsibility can only go so far. The broader concept about security is bestowed upon the other bodies. Bodies like the government and universities have a broader mandate to guarantee the security of their members. The university should bear additional accountability in protecting its students because it is socially obliged and because the learners are a university’s main concern. The safety of USF students or any other student for that matter is paramount. It ought to be a top priority for the learning institution as a daily routine. Students are particularly vulnerable to crime, and it is imperative that learning institutions take elaborate measures to ensure students are safe both inside and outside school. For instance, in the case of USF, the university transport system that has been tasked with shuttling students inside and outside the university starts its services at 7 am and runs until 12 am. Unfortunately, some of the hardworking students extend their stay past midnight. These learners are left with no alternative other than to walk home. Walking home in the wee hours is dangerous, particularly to men, as the possibility of falling victim to crime is exceptionally high (Criss Pamela 14-18). Statistics show that men are more likely to fall victim to violent crimes than women are (Victims and Victimization). To paraphrase the importance of enhancing safety for students, it would be crucial to analyze the current university security policy and the surrounding environment. The security personnel are only stationed at the university main compound. According to media reports, the area around USF has recorded astronomical figures in reported criminal activity. The economic status of most of the student does not help the situation. Some of the learners cannot afford cars while the ones who own cars find the parking fees to be exorbitant. Commuting to and from the school by taxi is a nightmare for those who live far because of the high fares. These challenges have forced the students to find residences near the campus. The university has a social responsibility to guarantee safety of its students so that they can undertake their studies without worrying about their safety (Bettinghaus Erwin 36-39). In light of this issue, I can propose a number of security measures that can be adopted by the student body and the university management. The university’s transport service can be extended to a twenty-four hour service. Such a move will ensure all students reach th eir destination safely and at all times. It is true that such a service will come at an extra cost. Therefore, learners should be ready and willing to chip-in with contributions to meet the added cost of service. Institutions should also guarantee the safety of learners who have left their parents’ homes to reside closer to the university. The university assumes the role of looking after the welfare of the students until they get back to their parents. Therefore, USF should lobby the national government and the local authority to increase security personnel and patrols in the entire area where learners reside. Increasing the number of security personnel in such areas would significantly decrease the likelihood of learners falling victim to crime. Some pundits may argue that it is not the prerogative of the university to offer security to students especially when they are out of the university compound. They may argue that the university bears that responsibility only when the student is within the university premises (Criss Pamela 14-18). It would be neglectful of the USF to have such an attitude. As I mentioned earlier, the university has a social responsibility to the community and its customers. The customers happen to be its students. Moreover, in order to protect its reputation, the university will do itself a veritable favor by ensuring its members are safe. Another argument against such an obligation would be based on cost of providing the service. Making the transport service run for twenty-four hours would not necessarily come at a cost as the service is only absent for seven hours. Besides, the university can convince the student to bear the extra cost of providing the transport service. The Bull Runner (USF’s campus shuttling service) currently operates between 7:00 am and 12:00 pm between Monday and Thursday. On Friday, the hours are shorter with the services ending at 5:30 P.M. The weekend service only lasts for five hours (between 2:30 P.M. and 5:30 P.M.) and there is no service on public holidays. The weekday service should be extended to twenty-four hours between Monday and Thursday with the Friday service being extended to midnight. The service can charge extra for the later hours in order to recover the cost of service. Extending these hours will make sure that these shuttle services are available for all students, including those who study very late and those who have avid social lives. If the university opts to lobby for increased security from the national government or local authority, there will be no extra cost that the university will incur as such cost will be borne by the relevant organ. There are numerous advantages of having a secure environment. The academic performance of the students will improve tremendously. The student will be able to excel in their studies and possibly come up with excellent inventions. The staff will also be able to work well, and their output will increase. The communi ty around the university will also enjoy the benefits of enhanced security measures. Another solution for the issue of campus security could be to introduce an application that tracks student movement. The application could be developed by students and data can be hosted in the server, in the university police department. When a user installs the application on their phone, they can allow a computer to track their movement and create a log that details the location visited and times of arrival and departure. When a user signs into the app, they are prompted to enter their current location and their final destination. A computer in the university police department then tracks the user and makes sure that they get to their destination safely. The app can also be used to send alerts that warn users of any threats to security. A good and secure environment can be used as a marketing tool for the university. It has the potential to attract more and more clients as the current students ac t as ambassadors of the university (Stiff James 45-52). When they enjoy a secure college environment, they will disseminate that information to their peers at home and encourage them to join their university. Benefits of security will trickle down even to the local residents and business community, as many investors will be willing to open up venture in the region. Statistics released in 2010 showed that USF has a high rate of burglaries and car thefts (over three years 403 burglaries and 101 car thefts were recorded) (Merrefield and Streib). The campus ranked 127 out of 450 in security, showing that there is a lot of room for improvement. The duty to provide safety lies with the individual and other bodies such as the state, local authorities and learning institution. In this respect, both the individual and other bodies have a role to play in order to realize security as a right to all. The learners need to take responsibility for their safety such as ensuring they do not walk al one late at night, or engage in activities that might jeopardize their safety. There should be a concerted effort by the entire student fraternity aimed at encouraging the university to enhance student safety. USF has the greatest responsibility of ensuring its students are safe. Only marginal effort is required of the university in enhancing the current security policy in relation to the student body. The university is only called upon to make the current transport service a twenty-four hours service, as this will ensure those students who leave the university premises very late at night reach their destination safe and secure. The university can also use its influence and convince the national government as well as the local authority to increase the number of security personnel and patrols. Impact Of Unmet Expectations On Employee Attitudes Coursework

Impact Of Unmet Expectations On Employee Attitudes Coursework Impact Of Unmet Expectations On Employee Attitudes – Coursework Example Impact of unmet expectations on employee attitudes Impact of unmet expectations on employee attitudes Cassandra is assistant manager in Walden sports. She has several unmet expectations that had been mentioned during her job interview but have not been met in the course of her four months in the company. She had been told that the employees forms part of the Walden family in their relations. She interpreted this as great teamwork and high levels of communication between the employees. However, the work relation in the company is quite fractured. The newly established travel agency has created a war between the traditional retail employees and the travel experience folks. There is also lots of work in the management section creating high level of confusion and competition. In addition, the employee indicates that she is not sure of who to go to whenever the overlap and overwork issues become problematic. These unmet expectations could affect her job performance since her level of mot ivation might decrease. She might also feel inferior considering that even the top officials are unwilling to collaborate with other employees, her included. The realistic job preview could have helped change the employee’s expectations. She could have been told the true characteristics of the job both positive and negative and she could know what to expect before even joining the organization (Laureate, 2014). She could have the true picture of the war between the employees, the overwork and the unavailability of individuals to talk to incase of problems in addition to other benefits of the organization. This could result into Cassandra and the other employees to have the true picture of the working condition of the organization.ReferencesLaureate Education, Inc. (2012). Antecedents of job attitudes. Character changes in Macbeth

Character changes in Macbeth Essay In Shakespeares play Macbeth we see the main character, Macbeth changes from a well-regarded and loyal soldier of the Scottish king to a murderous tyrant. At the start of the play Macbeth is courageous, ambitious, superstitious and devoted to his wife. These characteristics are shown through the victory against the rebels, Macbeths trust in the witches and his letter to his wife. In the second half of the play Macbeth becomes cruel and treacherous, insecure and distant from Lady Macbeth. The events that show this change are the murders Macbeth commits, his voluntary return to the witches and his reaction to his wifes death. One of the first events of the play occurs when King Duncans army, led by Macbeth and Banquo defeat the rebels. Macbeth fought ferociously, risking his own life to save his country. King Duncan praises noble Macbeth. Macbeth is seen as a strong soldier who is loyal and courageous, a truly heroic figure. To Duncan he was the worthiest cousin; to the wounded sergea nt Valours minion; to Banquo, My noble partner. King Duncan cannot reward him enough for all he has done. More is thy due than more than all can pay. Macbeth is made Thane of Cawdor, but begins to be tempted by his own vaulting ambition to become king. Another characteristic of Macbeth is his striving ambition and curious nature, which leads him and his partner Banquo to the witches who give him a prophecy. Banquo realises that there must be a trick hidden in the witches prophecies but Macbeth refuses to accept that. Macbeth chooses to let the witches influence him, but Banquo does not. This event showed Macbeth was superstitious because he trusted the witches. The witches prophecies stroked the fires of his ambition to be king.Macbeth was also devoted to his wife. He told his wife everything and confided in her via a secret letter. Macbeth even called his wife my dearest partner of greatness. This proves the affection and trust he had in Lady Macbeth. Together they plot to murder D uncan. Lady Macbeth and Macbeths own ambition are influences of evil that Macbeth chooses to accept. Macbeth also accepts advice from his wife. Lady Macbeth gets him to act by appealing to his manhood and courage, When you durst do it more the man., showing Macbeth is morally weak. He is very hesitant about killing the king though, showing he has a conscience. However, Macbeth begins to act alone, and Lady Macbeth loses her control over him. He follows his murder of Duncan with the quick murder of the two sleepy grooms. Macbeth becomes cruel and treacherous; the voice of conscience within him is gone; he no longer hesitates to follow courses of evil: The very firstlings of my heart shall be The firstlings of my hand. He does not need to be urged to the deed in planning the murder of Banquo and of Fleance. Macbeth fears Banquo because he recognises in him a moral courage, which he lacked Banquo kept his bosom franchised and allegiance clear. Macbeth also believed the prophecy that Banquos descendants would become king. He had become obsessed with his own safety. Macbeths imagination and insecurity is shown when the ghost of Banquo appeared at the banquet. His degradation carries him to the level where he vents his savage frenzy upon the innocent heads of His Macduffs wife, his babes for no reason, but his savage determination to maintain t he throne. These murders show the insecurity that was present in Macbeth. READ: The Moment Of Truth: Happy Ending EssayMacbeth voluntarily and deliberately returns to the witches alone. This time he is more assertive towards them. He is not over awed and he demands to know if Banquos descendants will become kings. The witches deliberately mislead Macbeth but he believes them, showing his overconfidence. Later, Macbeth becomes distant and cold towards Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth can no longer control Macbeth, and after killing Duncan he begins to act alone. Macbeth even tells the doctor to cure her of her mental illness, and makes no effort himself to help cure her. When Lady Macbeth dies, Macbeth states She should have died hereafter. There would have been time for such a word. He hears the news of his wifes death and reacts nonchalant and unemotionally. But Macbeth is still a tragic hero because he reveals to us that he is suffering a living hell, without the blessing of sleep that knits up the ravelld sleave of care. His punishment is as great as his crimes. At the end Macbeth does not run away or kill himself. Although Macbeth knows that he is doomed, he fights Macduff to the end, showing he is still courageous and physically brave. Once the saviour of his country, a valiant cousin! a worthy gentleman, Macbeth became the dead butcher, allowing ambition to overcome the natural order of life. Bibliography:

Case Study - Internaional Business report Essay

Case Study - Internaional Business report - Essay Example This is done, firstly, by utilizing the PESTEL framework of analysis. In addition to this, other lesser known factors that lie outside the PESTEL framework are also discussed. Political Climate: On the political front, Ireland has moved on from a troubled past, where terrorism and chaos were the dominant theme for the nation. With greater internal harmony and more placid religious and ethnic intolerance, the country is finally poised to fulfil its economic potential. The roots of the present Irish government’s policy framework lay in the radical changes brought about by the political leaders of the early 1980’s. Such public welfare programs such as the â€Å"National Wage Partnership Program fostered cooperative industrial relations, reduction in taxes, targeted government programs to attract FDI, and financial support from the EU† (Ireland in 2004). Programs such as this, acted as sound precedents for further policy initiatives, continuing to the present day. This succinctly explains how the political atmosphere in Ireland had contributed to its newfound prosperity. Economic Factors: To take the case of the fiscal year 2002, the FDI inflow to Ireland had risen to 25 billion dollars – a whopping 150 percent increase over the previous year. This came at a time when the rest of the developing world was struggling with economic sluggishness. To understand the success of the Irish economy we have to look at the source nations from which these investments are coming in. Unlike many other emerging markets, the primary investors in Ireland are the UK, the Netherlands and of course, the United States. This diversity helps reduce dependency on regional economic activity and helps mitigate the vicissitudes of global fiscal trends. Moreover, â€Å"this has grown rapidly over the past two decades, from $32 billion in 1980 to $157 billion in 2002. FDI plays a capital role in the Irish economy: the ratio of inflows to gross

Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul :: essays research papers

Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul is the first of seven editions of the Chicken Soupseries. It is loved and admired by everyone that reads it. It has become a popular book all over the world. The author, are various people-was a struggling single mother when she started the Harry Potter series. She spent time in a cafà © in England to write the books. She did a fabulous job, she has been the recipient several awards for the series, and the first book will be transformed into a movie, which should be released in November of 2001. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Harry Potter, and I plan on reading the rest of them. From what I have read in just the first book I am sure that I will enjoy all the rest. The author has a very creative way of writing that is easy enough to understand, but also involved so that the reader isn’t bored stiff. This is partially why I feel that it has had such great success. Another big reason for its success is because it can be read and enjoyed by all ages. If you are young, you can relate to the first years; if you are older you can think back and it brings out the child in you. This magnificent story is about an eleven year old boy who has been deprived of practically everything all his life. Harry Potter lived in a cupboard under the stairs with his â€Å"muggle† relatives. Muggle refers to humans who lack any sort of mystical power. His Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia treated him very poorly because they refused to accept him for whom he is: a very famous child with great potential as a wizard amongst the magical world. As he grew up he never got anything of his own, even on special occasions. He received his spoiled cousin Dudley’s old clothes, which were all too big for Harry. At school Harry was bullied around, at home he never got a full dinner, and his birthdays were often forgotten. Needless to say, he lived a very depressing life.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Fortunately things changed. Harry received an envelope in the mail, but Uncle Vernon did not allow him to read it. Another letter came; once again Harry was not allowed to read it. More and more letters came, it was apparent to Harry that someone was trying to contact him and would not stop until he got the message.

Athletes and Ethics: The Choice to be Role Models

The merits and ethics of athletic scholarships, and the accountability athletes had to accept to conform to projected social norms is a contentious issue. On one hand, the pressures athletes face depend on the nature of the various normative and actual notions of role models projected onto athletes by the relevant institutions, the branches of these institutions, and society at large. However, the pressures athletes face depend on the attitude of the athlete towards the concept of the ‘role model’, and how seriously the athlete takes subjective notions of public image   and civic virtue. The social and institutional versus athlete pressure/role model dynamic essentially hinge on whether athletes should be viewed as role models, the difficulty in being a role model, whether they should indeed be expected to be role models, or if athletes even have a choice in the matter.Athletes and Ethics: Big Pressure for High School and College AthletesA young boy enters the house in h is favorite purple Lakers jersey. As he sat in front of the television, he sees his favorite basketball star, Kobe Bryant, arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting of a woman.   From the perspective of civic functionality, there are some strong views against the use of athletes as role models.Citing the high profile example of Kobe Bryant, Brown (2005) contends that there can be a discrepancy between the public persona and private deeds of high profile professional athletes. Bryant’s case is instructive of cases where an athlete’s public good standing can be shattered in the light of public scrutiny. Whether or not there was truth to the allegations, did Bryant hold any responsibility to the public regarding the damage this has to his image? Either way, he did not have a choice.Athletes as Role Models: A Perception of the Past  At issue here was the view that to be a role model was defined by the contributive function made by a member of society. Doctors, police, firefighters and soldiers were apparently more intrinsically deserving of the social abstraction of â€Å"role model.† However, the philanthropic activity of athletes did not negate their supposed lack of social function outside of a sport (Brown, 2005).The emergence of the celebrity status of athletes as role models of the youth may seem to be a product of mass media and marketing. To prove that this was not so, all puns aside, Mosher (1998) gave further credence to the image of sports people as role models.A presentation of the athletes as role models in a historical and sociological context must be done to show the perception these sports people had for the longest time. The British amateurism in the sports of the 19th century, where amateurism and elitism worked hand in glove to exclude the working classes from any participation in certain sports that were the reserved for the â€Å"civilized gentlemen† of the ruling elite (Mosher, 1998).Chivalry was the image of role models, as translated to the modern century America’s language, was both universally accepted and desirable. America, where improving one’s lot was the central pillar for its foundation, did not let amateurism find fertile ground in this self-proclaimed egalitarian nation.Hence, with professionalism and the social mobility associated with it, came the desire of upstanding role models in sport inherited by concepts of chivalry in the Old World.Going back further in time, the Greeks were seen to greatly influence how heroism was related to sports. During their time, sportsmen were regarded as heroes. Competition was something that was highly regarded and those who participated were regarded to be men who were above ordinary men (Boon, 2005).The hero figure was someone who had physical strength, courage and an innate ability to confront dangerous circumstances without fear; most of these qualities were attributed to their Greek athletes as well as to their great warr iors. A hero was the Greek’s version of the public’s role model, even if it the modern term was an understatement and less romanticized.Athletes still held the same power, influence and impact that were given by history to sportsmen. They were ideally seen to transcend mediocrity and to prove themselves by exceptional acts and to serve as perfect examples because of their superior qualities (Boon, 2005). They were seen to dominate human action and to symbolize success and perfection, as well as the conquest of evil. Thus, they were seen to be men of good character because if they were not it would mean they were imperfect and mediocre.Aside from the Greek correlation of sports and heroism, aside from physical development, how did sports become a tool to build character in the American perception? There was a time wherein sports was not even considered to be something good in American life as it was seen to be the root of gambling and everything that was un-Christian? H ow come it has now been regarded as an avenue of chivalry and gentlemanly behavior? It was during when the Church attempted to regulate sports that it was seen to serve the purpose of character development for boy and girls (Mosher, 1998). Even basketball was created to promote teamwork, self-sacrifice, obedience, self-control as well as loyalty. The biggest factor that was seen to have implanted the idea that athletes must be role models was the Olympic movement (Mosher, 1998).In the present, the analogy of comparing people of chivalry in the past to athlete role models of the present time was seen to be outdated. However, the fact that it was still existing seemed to provide the sense of intrigue as to where this concept came from and why it had survived for so long (Skidelsky, 2003).In the 19th century, sportsmen accepted the idea that they had a special duty to behave well. Athletes were seen to be required to behave under the â€Å"proponents of ‘muscular Christianityâ₠¬â„¢Ã¢â‚¬ as it was instilled in moral instruction of the sports (Skidelsky, 2003).This created the belief that physical robustness was expectedly connected to moral purity, something that would be indubitable in the present world of sports. The public, at present, would be constantly bombarded with how athletes were not able to cope with the pressures and temptations of fame.Unlike the requirement of the past, professional sports had ceased to require any form of moral or responsible behavior for these athletes to be successful (Glenarden, 1997). Possessing success seemed to be held by society to be more important than possessing good character, morals or ethical behavior.

7 Signs of a Bad Roommate Relationship

Even though college roommate relationships are more likely to be good ones than not-so-good ones, there are always situations where things arent working out for the best. So how can you know when your college roommate situation is officially bad? What are the signs of a bad roommate relationship? 1.Youre Glad When Your Roommate Isnt Around That isnt to say that you arent happy to have some alone time every once in a while; privacy can be hard to find in college, after all. But if you always are looking forward to your roommates absence, there might be a problem. You dont have to be best friends with your roommate, but you probably shouldnt mind when theyre around. 2. Youre Not Speaking to Each Other Unless Absolutely Necessary—If Even Then In some situations, roommates can decide, whether consciously or by default, that not speaking to each other is the best solution. And while this may work for a little while, it definitely wont work long-term. Not speaking to each other is still communicating in a way, and eventually, that kind of Silent Treatment message is going to get expressed in other, even-less-productive ways. 3. You Argue More Often Than Not Conflict is pretty much unavoidable when you live with someone for nearly a year in a situation that constantly has external stresses put upon it (midterms, finances, relationships, etc.). Just like good friends can argue and still be friends, roommates can address and work through conflict without damaging their roommate relationship. Still, if you find yourself arguing more often than not with your roommate, that might be a sign that your relationship has officially soured. 4. Everyone Knows You Dont Like Your Roommate Is it normal for people to have ups and downs with roommates, and to share those ups and downs with friends? Definitely. But if you have had so many issues and conflicts with your roommate that your friends, family, and classmates know about it, then it might be time to consider switching roommates -- or at least look into dealing more directly with your frustrations. 5. Youre Secretly Hoping Things Get Bad Enough That Your Roommate Moves Out   When youre in a situation with conflict, there are often two major choices: fix the conflict, or fix the situation. Ideally, in a college roommate situation, your aim should be to resolve the conflict so that the two of you can get back to living together in a positive, healthy way. If, however, your goal is to have your roommate simply move out (thus changing the situation), things may be worse than you thought. 6. Youre No Longer Making an Effort to Resolve Conflicts or Fix the Situation If youve resigned yourself to having a bad roommate and being in a bad situation, there may be justified reasons for feeling that way. But officially quitting on making an effort to repair—or at least improve— your relationship and/or your situation is never a good sign. 7. All Respect Has Left Your Roommate Relationship Respect in a roommate relationship comes in all forms; you and your roommate should respect each others space, time, things, and relationships—not to mention each other as people. But if things have degenerated to the point where you just dont care or respect anything about your roommate, your situation definitely needs some help.
